Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

My child is now three years old and I am still leagally married to his father simply for the custody issue. His father is an alcoholic and possible drug addict. He has never been alone with my son and will go months w/out seeing him and then start demanding to see him. My son really doesn't want to see him or spend time with him but because we are legally married I was told I have to allow him to see him but I feel unsafe and know he has been drinking. How long do we have to go through this. I have to stay married to a man to protect my child. What are our options?

It doesn't sound to me like you are protecting your child. I would suggest that you hire an attorney to represent you in a Dissolution of Marriage. The Court will take into consideration yoru husband's drinking and drugging as it may affect the child. In many cases the Court will require testing, treatment and supervised visitation in an effort to protect the child.
