Re: lega; adult age

Your daughter is not considered an adult at seventeen. Legally, different ages have different consequences. In other words, a person can not enter into a legally enforceable contract until he or she is eighteen. A person may still be subject to the jurisdiction of the juvenile court until he or she is eighteen. A person can not drive at a certain age, or vote at a different age, but he or she can serve in the military at a different age. As far as a parents child support obligations, a child might be considered emancipated at eighteen, or not until twenty-two at the latest in some circumstances. So you see, the answer to your question depends somewhat on the exact reason why you ask.
