Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

non custodial rights

I pay child support on my daughter who is 18 now. She is in 11th grade and has not lived with her dad for over 9 mos. He still receives child support. Her grandmother and her have been given at the most $ 300.00 in the last 9 mos. He receives $393.00 a mo.She is moving in with me Saturday her grandma can't afford her to stay with her. What is this going to cost me to stop the child support so I can afford for her to live with me?

Re: non custodial rights

You might be able to take care of this on your own, although you should have gotten legal advice and taking some action whenever your child stopped living with her father. You can file a Motion to Terminate Child Support in the Circuit Court that granted the existing child support Order. Some courts even have forms available for the use of people without attorneys. The court clerks can not give you any legal advice, but you might be able to get through this process yourself. If you believe that you would be better off with an attorney, and in most cases you would be, then you can hire an attorney to take care of this for you. I would require a $1500 retainer fee to take a case like this.
