Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Release & Settlement

My boyfriend of 11 yrs. is moving out of my condo (in my name only). We have divided the household materials. I may be paying him a settlement for work he did while living in the condo. Where can I find a release & settlement form so I will be free of any future lawsuit or liabilities that he may file against me? Do I need to go through a lawyer or just fill the form out myself and have him sign it and get it notorized?

Please help.

Re: Release & Settlement

After eleven years together you probably have more than just a couple of things that need to be covered legally if you want to reduce your separation, division of property, and financial matters to a legally enforceable writing. I would certainly advise you to seek competent legal assistance, and not try to accomplish this important job on your own. I have handled several such agreements over the last twenty-three years, and I would be willing to offer you a free telephone consultation if you would call me at 314-727-2822. Then, if you decide that you would like for me to help you we can discuss a modest attorney's fee to cover my time and effort. I would, of course, only be able to represent one of you, not both of you. In any event, good luck.
