Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Is it typical in Missouri for an unwed father to only see his child in the mother's home for the first 12-18 months? The lawyers are telling my son that this is best for the child for routine reasons. I'm horrified that this girl and her room mates are considered a better environment 24/7 than the baby's father or at my house, the grandma, at least 1-2 days a week. Do we just need to call another lawyer?

There can be valid reasons for a father or grandmother not to have overnight visits. But, the presumption is that parents will share custody. Your Son should at least consult Ruth another attorney, to see what facts in this case would work against him having overnight visits.

Your son should definitely hire an attorney and obtain a Court Order granting him his rights to legal and physical custody! Depending upon where this situation is, I may be able to offer my services for a reasonable fee. I have handled hundreds of such cases in the last 35 years. Please feel free to call me, or have your son call me for a free telephone consultation.
