Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri

i agreed to store a friends stuff in my basement for 20.00 a month. he has not paid for 2 years. is it legally mine now.

It depends upon the nature of the agreement. If you have a written agreement that if he does not pay you $20 each month, the stuff is yours, then it is. Otherwise, you may have to give him written notice of his arearage, and an opportunity to pay you or retrive his stuff. In that letter you should state that if he does nto pay or retirve his things within a certain amount of time (usually thirty days) or by a certian date, you will either sell the items or convert them to your use. Send the letter certified or at least retrun reciept, so tha tyou can later show it to the judge ro police if you copmes to get his stuff or sues you. You may do well having an attorney draft and/or send the letter for you.
