Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri

I have a complex situation and seem to be running into dead ends trying to find out what i can do.. I bought a car with what is now an ex I am the signer of the car and he is the co signer. the car was for his use but he stopped making the payments once we split so the finance company has sued me and is now garnishing my wages not his.. i have gone to his house but he refuses to give me the car and i dont no if because he is on the car registration as well if i can really make him or what i have to do to get the car back? We have two small children and he knowns that i dont have the money to hire a lawyer and i think hes using that to his advantage to keep the car while i pay for it.. Any advise?

It looks like you will have to sure him for contribution. If the amount is small enough, you can do so in small claims court without an attorney. Since you're paying for the car, you might be able to get a court order for him to surrender the car to you until her pays.go see a civil practice attorney on your area.many offer a free or low cost initial consultation.

Good luck
