Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri

engaged

I was engaged to a man who had bad credit, and because I thought we would be married and always have the same bills, we purchased the ring on my credit card. He actually put $500 on his card and $6000 on mine. He broke off the engagement in Feb 07, I just now graduated and have the ability to pursue the case. Can I take him to court for the entire amount, or half. Also has too much time passed?

Re: engaged

Who has the ring now? I would need to know more facts in order to properly evaluate this. Also, in Missouri, the courts take a fault based approach on engagement ring cases. So, it may be necessary to determine why the engagement broke off and whether either party detrimentally relied on the engagement. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss further. I would be happy to help you.
