Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri

I was mailed a municipal court summons to appear in municipal court at a certain date.. For an unlicensed vehicle. This came through normal mail, not registered or return receipt etc. Where it should be signed by the recipient it just said mailed. My question, am I required to appear in court or is this just a scare tactic.

If you or your attorney fail to appear or respond to the Symons, you could get a bit nxh warrant.

It requires you to appear, but you can hire an attorney to take care of it for you. Sometimes the attorney can save you a trip to court, and save you from taking a conviction. If you ignore the summons, the court may issue a warrant for your arrest.
