Legal Question in Insurance Law in Missouri

who gets money

My son died in a car accident His father and I have been divorced for two years. I purchased vehicle insurance. My insurance company has notified me that I have a liability death pay out of $25,000 if I want to pursue it. They could not tell me if his father would be entilited to any of this money or not.If I decide to pursue this matter they will hire an attorney for me. I would really like to know if father will get any of this money before I decide if I want to pursue this matter.

Thanks

Re: who gets money

Complicated question, but the answer is probably you and his father share in some proportion; but there are other questions. Is there another source of recovery? Is $25,000 the limit or is there an excess policy or medical payments insurance coverage or some other source? Feel free to call my or my partner, Jeff Heinrichs, at (800) 9McLeod.
