Legal Question in Personal Injury in Missouri

Auto Accident

I was involved in an auto accident in 2004. The other person was at fault. His insurance company has verbably agreed to settle. How long do they have to pay, or can they just keep putting it off.

Re: Auto Accident

You have 5 years to file a law suit. If you don't settle first, and 5 years passes, you are barred from ever filing a suit. The problem is that the longer you wait, the harder it will be for a trial lawyer to do the investigation needed to pursue the claim. So, be wary of delay! If you are done treating medically, there is no reason it should take longer than 90 days after you send your medical records to the insurance company.

I agree with Spencer, beware that they may just be dragginf it out hoping you will just drop it or the statute of limitations runs. What were the extent of the medical bills?
