Legal Question in Personal Injury in Missouri

How long should I wait for an attorney to file my case?

After mailing out tens of thousands of emails to lawyers nationwide seeking an honest, unbiased, lawyer to accept my case and file immediately so I wouldn't be disqualified due to not filing before the statute of limitations runs out, I found a fellow last Friday in Saint Louis, MO who said he would be glad to handle it as long as I don't try and get money using the theory that the woman broadsiding me in her GMC van caused me to become diabetic the next d

BEN told me that he had received all of the stuff I had taken to him last Friday. He said he would file by the end of the MONTH...? My five year statute of limis ends on the 9th of October.

I asked him if he had received the email from the Auto Safety woman. He said that he had.

I asked him when he intended to send the paperwork to me stating that he was taking on my case. He said that it would go out soon.

Should I be comfortable with explanation? I mean should I be comfortable allowing him to wait until the end of September to file? I have never met this attorney in real time. Should I engage other attorneys and see which one moves the fastest?

Can I get some honest help here?

Thanks

Once you have engaged an attorney you should let him handle the matter for you. If he has not sent you a written letter of engagement, you should ask him to do this immediately or to send it by fax.

If you hire another lawyer and have that lawyer compete to see who gets the case on file first, you'll be putting one or both lawyers in an ethical pickle with respect to who really represents you. I would strongly advise against this.

Just curious, why did you wait until the statute of limitations had almost expired befor hiring an attorney?
