Legal Question in Personal Injury in Missouri

A neighbor wrongly accused me and a friend of letting her horses out of her field in the middle of the night. She did not press charges but had the sherrif's department contact my friend's employer, resulting in him getting fired. Now she is spreading the rumor to others in the neighborhood. Is there anything we can do to make her stop?

It sounds like at lest your friend has a case for slander. They should consult directly with an attorney in their area. You may alkso have case, but damges woudl be hard to prove. If it is clear name you want, then you may need tlo sue in )posilby in small claims court) to get a judgment saying that she spread false allegations about you in public, that harmed your reputation. You may only win $1, as you will have hard time proving dmages. But it should stop her from telling the lie anymore.

Good luck
