Legal Question in Personal Injury in Missouri

I purchase a car on Nov.15,2009 and it got totaled on Nov.21,2009 while it was parked in front of my house. The dealer didn't require having insurance before I left off the lot. I wasn't driving the vehicle due to the fact that I didn't have insurance yet. the car that hit mine was a stolen vehicle. And the susoect got away. The police officer issued me a ticket which states operating a vehicle without financial responsibility. But i wasn't operating my vehicle it was parked. What can i do about this situation?

If you are able to obtain insurance, the prosecitor may agree to a lesser offense. Or, you can pay the ticket. As there was an accident, the court might make you appear. If you (or your attorney) tell the judge that you had recently purchased the vehicle, and the accident was caused by someon else while your car was parked, you may not get too harsh of a puniushment.

As to yoru car, you do nto seem to have anyone to go after for your damages, except the driver that his your vehicle, or anyone that added them or participated in the crime. Stay in contact with the detectives investigating the vehciel theft and collision into yoru car. If you doubt tha the car was really stolen, you might go after the owner or the vehicle that hit your car.

Good luck
