Legal Question in Personal Injury in Missouri

slip and fall question

I was meeting my husband at the hospital for his appointment. It had been raining and the pavement was wet. As I was walking I slipped and fell, twisting my ankle and landing on my knee. I continued into the hospital and when I got to the doctor's office I asked to have my ankle checked. I was sent to have xrays. On my way out of the hospital my husband and I looked at the area where I slipped and saw that it was a smooth slick area, as opposed to the surrounding areas that were textured. Is it reasonable of me to expect the hospital to cover the charges for seeing the doctor and the xrays? Also, is there a way to get them to improve the area in question?

Re: slip and fall question

Premises liability cases are dificult to evaluate. However, as you have described, that this was a slick area, surrounded by textured pavement, you may have a viable case for having the hospital or its owners, managers, maintenance departments resposible for your damages. Since this area wa sdifferent than the surroundinhg pavement, you may have claims against the construction company or architects who did that portion of the pavement. I suggest you make a claim for your medical bills and for any other damages to the hospital or the owners of the building where the doctor's office is located. You may want to consult with an attorne in your area first.

If they have not already, your making a claim may make those most likely responsible for your injuries, fix the pavement.

Good luck
