Legal Question in Personal Injury in Missouri

We are being sued and need legal advice

My husband, mother in law, and landlord are being sued for a dog bite. The dog was in a fenced yard and escaped without our knowledge. The dog was lazy and not ferocious. We do not know what prevoked her, she never bit anyone before. The plaintif went back to work the next day. Can she sue us? Can she sue the landlord when the landlord really had nothing to do with the dog? The landlord has homeowners insurance, so wouldn't that cover this? Please let us know all you can about Missouri law in this case, thank you.

Re: We are being sued and need legal advice

Although I will happily answer your questions, if you've been sued you need to hire a lawyer and get an answer on file.

Although the plaintiff's ability to go back to work the next day does have some impact with respect to the damages he can obtain, it doesn't preclude him suing you.

The landlord's insurance would cover the landlord for any liability, but that insurance would not protect anyone else.

Dog bite cases are unique in Missouri and a full explanation of the law can't be provided here. You should see an attorney as soon as possible.
