It is theoretically possible to force such a sale, but I have never heard of anyone being able to have a home sold for such a debt. They might, under extemely rare facts, be able to sell the house, pay the spouse thgeir 50% share and teh debtor their statutory portion of the equity, and get teh residue amount, but the chance of getting nothing, preventws most form even attempting. It is more likely that your insurance policy will cover all the damages. If not, then they may garnish your wages, or execute upon your personal property. If you had liability insurance, then your insurer will pay the fees for an attorney to represent you. Talk to the that attorney about your options and asset exposure.

Good luck
