Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Missouri

I am a joint owner (&) of a truck registered in MO, paid for. Property tax was paid in MO , my state. Plates were renewed last year without technical because the truck was out of state, i mailed them to him. It still is out of state, the other owner has it, uses it and his work somewhat prevents him to get to MO to register for this year. He also owes me money, claiming not making enuf now and will pay asap. I suggested I would sell him the truck half for BB value, sign off the title and be done. He claims to have no money to do that.He emailed me asking to send him the title because he can register the truck in AZ temporarily for 90 days as is, but for a regular 1 year registration needs to show there is no lien on it. I do not understand how he can do it and have a feeling he just wants to sign my name as seller and change all into his name only. He pays insurance in AZ, has permanent address in AZ. I want to get my name off the title but not for free , the vehicle value is about 20k still, we paid for it jointly.

What would you do? Thank you!

It appears that your option is to send the title and take the chance that he will rip you off, Place alien on the itle and send it to him, ( he would then have to register it with the lein in AZ) or Transfer the truck to just your name and make demand that he return the truck to you.. The latter sound like you are ripping him off, but it may be the only way for him to start paying money. Your remaining option would be to do nothing. Once the other owner gets enough expired tags tickets, he will find the money to send you, or he will find someone to buy the truck. If he doe find a buyer, have the buyer's check sent to you here. Once the check clears, you can send the other woner's portion with the signed title.
