I was sexually harassed at work and i just want to know if indeed it is a form of sexual harassment or not. he mentioned that my husband was not going to be at wrk that night and that he could take me to dinner and from taking me to dinner it escalated to taking me to a hotel since in fact my husband would not be at work. i told him no that i was not interested. is that sexual harassment or not? he also said this to a couple of other employees and im just curious.

Re: Harassment In The Work Place

If this man is making you uncomfortable because of the sexual nature of his conduct and it makes doing your job more difficult dealing with his conduct it could very well be sexual harassment.

There are many many questions I would need to ask you to give you a definte opinion. In any event if you are at all uncomfortable with his advances you should report him immediately to your boss, his boss, or your HR Department. Your company should have a sexual harassment policy which tells you to whom to report offensive conduct such as this. If they have such a policy you must report it.

This situation is very important. I often help individuals through very difficult issues like yours.

I cannot give legal advice, or quote fee rates over e-mail for several reasons. First, in order to answer questions, I may need to ask you several questions or review documents. Also, because there is no confidentiality with e-mail, some authorities have said that I would be in violation of ethical restrictions. Additionally, if you are already represented, I need to know that in order to ethically render legal advice. Finally, please understand that I make my living rendering legal opinions.
