Legal Question in Traffic Law in Missouri

hired lawyer to fix a ticket... no show in court

I paid a local lawyer three weeks ago to take care of a speeding ticket. My court date was last week, and I got a failure to appear in court notice from the court. what recourse do I have against the lawyer? can I be held responsible for the inaction of the lawyer I hired?

Firsst, contact the lawyer. He or she may have done nothing wrong. I have had the clerks send out a FTA notice even after I have entered my appearance which makes me look bad with my client but which really does no harm at all. If the lawyer did in fact not enter or do anything for you, then you might want to fire that lawyer and hire someone else, But, I would give the lawyer the benefit of the doubt until you know all of the facts. Good luck.
