Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Missouri

I had a civil judgement against me in 2004 for $1540.00+int. In 2005 the plaintiff died with nothing paid on the judgement, his estate didnt get discharged until 2008. I am nowhere in the estate recordings as I was out of country at the time and(attornys had bigger fish to fry). I do still have to pay this???? It is on my credit report and I cant get the same answers at the courthouse twice in a row.

Well, that's a little bit tough. It is theoretically possible that the estate could be re-opened to try to collect the obligation from you. If they don't want to reopen the estate for this relatively small amount, then I'm not sure how you get it resolved. I'm guessing they can't give you the answer at the courthouse. I'm also guessing you could file some sort of action in the case "tendering" the amount due to the Court, and obtaining a satisfaction that way. I'm also suspecting you'll pay some lawyer's fees to get that done.

Good luck!
