Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Missouri

Federal I.D. Number on a CD after Dad Passes Away?

My father passed away leaving a Trust for myself and three siblings (all adults). An attorney is involved charging $225/hr. which we feel is above and beyond what it should be. There is apparently a small amount of shares in a stock that wasn't included in the Trust which she says needs to be probated. Also she is saying we should post in the paper something about anybody coming forward that may have cause for a debt. Now attorney is saying that my dad (who passed away) needs to have a Federal I.D. number obtained for the CD's that were left in the trust. Questions: 1) Are we right to think $225/hr is too much? 2) We are confused about the Federal I.D. number for the CD's ... shouldn't there already be a Federal I.D. number for the CD's, if not how do we get one? 3) Can we donate the small amount of shares in the stock to a charity? 4) Is it necessary to post in the paper regarding the debts? We all thought that having a Trust would solve most problems, wherein the need for an attorney would be minimal. The hours are adding up. Any suggestions? Thank you.
