Overpayment of invoices

I was working for a company as a freelance transcriptionist and was sending invoices to them and they paid me for the invoices sent. Now they are saying I miscalculated the invoices and I owe them a certain amount of money for overpayment. Can they do this?

Of course. The question is whether they are correct, which you should know.If you wish to contest their actions, perhaps you should retain counsel.
