Legal Question in Workers Comp in Missouri

not sure about will

My father died and I dont know if he had a will, My step mother seems unconcerned as do my siblings. Every one acts like everything just goes to my step mother but I feel I am entitled to some inheritence. How do I pursue this?

Re: not sure about will

Please accept my sympathies at the loss of your father. If your father owned any assets at the time of his death in his name alone, then there might be an estate in which you may have an interest. Anything owned in joint names with your step mother would be owned by her immediately upon your father's death. If you believe that there was a Will, there is a statute that provides the right to file a lawsuit to obtain a court order for the production of the Will. Even if there was no Will, you may still be entitled to something. I would suggest asking family members including the step mother whether anyone knows of a Will. Perhaps it would be a good idea for you to speak with a probate attorney in the area in which you live.
