Legal Question in Workers Comp in Missouri

Workers Compensation Insurance

I am a sole prorpietor (no employees other than self) in the process of negotiating a consulting agreement with a St. Louis Mo. firm to provideg financial consulting services. The company's boiler plate agreement states that I (as a 1099 consultant) need to show evidence of workers compensation insurance prior to undertaking any assignment with them. Given that I have no employees, and company is not based in Missouri, is workers compensation mandatory in order for me to provide said servcies to this Missouri based company?

Re: Workers Compensation Insurance

No, it would not seem to be necessary (certainly not for purposes of Virginia's requirements), but if this Missouri based company wants to make it part of their "boiler plate agreement" with you, that's up to them.
