Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Montana

Former employee harrassing me.

My former employee, a daycare is harrassing and threatning me over library books that were checked out using the company card. The books were left there and the library told me that the facility was responsible for fee because the agreement they had was with the company not me. I was not the only teacher on the card and left the books there when I quit because other teachers used them also. The director said they were going to sue me, what should I do?

Re: Former employee harrassing me.

How have they communicated with you so far? Have they sent you letters? Has anyone else sent you letters on their behalf? These questions are important to determine your best course of action. Based upon the little information you have provided, it does not sound like they could establish liability on your behalf, without filing a police report. Most judges, that I am familiar with, require a police reprot where the employer is claiming that an ex employee lost or stole third party property.

Good Luck,
