Legal Question in Criminal Law in Nebraska

I have an adult son that was incarcerated on April 8. Assault and charges were dropped 8 days ago. Also a violation of protection order. Which was dropped. He is in Omaha county corretions and has a public defender. She will not take any calls from me for answers. He needs out and has mental issues which she chooses to ignore. I need to know what I can do to get him out of there please??? I have no money to give I sure wish I did! lol

Most of the people held in custody have mental issues and all of them think they need to get out. I know nearly all of the public defenders in Omaha and they are excellent attorneys, your son is in good hands. His lawyer cannot communicate anything about his case with you unless he consents and even if he consents, his lawyer is not required to discuss the case with you. If you did have the money to hire a private lawyer, you would not necessarily get a better lawyer, but the lawyer you hire would probably take more time to keep you informed and help comfort you through this process. The best you can do for your son at this point is visit him as often as you are allowed.
