Child choosing step-parent for adoption

Does Nebraska have a law allowing a step-child to choose a step-parent to adopt them without the consent of the non-custodial birth parent.

This question is best address to local counsel, although any attorney should be able to research it for you. I practice in NYC and Long Island.

Where a biological parent has dropped out of the picture, his/her consent may not be required, although you would have to show due diligence in attempting to obtain same.

As a last resort, you may wish to consider a termination of parental rights.
