Legal Question in Family Law in Nebraska

Parental Rights

My husband and I have custody of his 15 year old son, recently we took away his phone privledges for one week. During this week he was not allowed to use the phone at all, including speaking with his mother. She says that this is not legal, is she correct?

Thank You

Re: Parental Rights

It is legal to limit your step-son's phone use. The real question is whether it is a violation of the divorce decree/parenting plan. Many parenting plan's provide for unlimited or several weekly phone calls to the non-custodial parent. Taking those away would be like taking away a scheduled visit.

I hope this answered your question, I can't be more specific without the decree or parenting plan in front of me.
