Legal Question in Family Law in Nebraska

remarriage wait period if remarrying in another state

I am getting a divorce in Nebraska but remarrying in Florida. I know there is a 6 month remarriage wait time in Nebraska. Does that apply if the remarriage is in Florida?

Re: remarriage wait period if remarrying in another state

In Nebraska the divorce is FINAL, except for purposes of appeal for 30 days when the judge signs the Decree. There is a prohibition against remarriage for a period of six months. In other words, you CAN NOT legally marry anyone--anywhere for six months after the DECREE is signed (not necessarily the same day as when you go to court--but usually so).

Good luck.
