Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Nebraska

Apartment Deposit timeframe and timeframe to fix hole in roof

I have moved out of wentworth apartments. It has been a month and they have not got back to us about our deposit yet. They are charging us for ridiculous things. They are charging us for cleaning the roof of the garage. They have not got back to us yet with how much we owe or whatever. Also when we lived there there was a hole in the roof caused by a leak. we notified them of this multiple times. we moved out and it still was not fixed by then. I have a few questions. Is there a timeframe on when they have to give me back my deposit. Should I sue now or wait for them to get back to me. Do you think I have a case. Also is them not repairing the roof a violation of some law that I can sue them for? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You may have a case. It depends on the details of your facts, what you are able to prove, and their side of the story. You should hire an attorney to evaluate the case for you. Under some circumstances, you may be awarded attorney fees in addition to your claim. Google for "Nebraska Landlord Tenant Act" if you would like to read more about these issues.
