Nebraska RV Tax laws

If you buy an RV in the state of Nebraska, and you had your home up for sale at the time you bought the RV, do you have to pay your sales and license tax in the state you bought it if you will a full time RVer?

Re: Nebraska RV Tax laws

I am an RV'er as well. The answer hinges upon whether you have established residency in another state. I assume you are thinking of South Dakota or some other jurisdiction where licensing costs are more favorable than Nebraska.

If you have not established an address in another jurisdiction through some type of property owned in another state or other indicia of domicile in the state I think you will be hard pressed to license in another jurisidiction.

I am familiar with people who establish Post Office box addresses in other states that RV and establish domicile in that other state; however, I think the practice is questionable. Given the fact that you still have real estate in Nebraska I think it would be hard to argue your residence is not in Nebraska; however, you may want to try.

Hope this helps.
