Legal Question in Traffic Law in Nebraska

Drivers license signature allows law enforcement to search your vehicle

When a citizen signs his/her drivers license, does that signature allow law enforcement to search your vehicle if they choose to do so? What does your signature do on your drivers license?

Your signature is just an acknowledgment that you have applied for the privilege of driving a motor vehicle on public roads. Using the driver's license by operating a motor vehicle on public roads places you under the jurisdiction of a number of laws related to the use of a motor vehicle. Police are authorized to search vehicles under certain circumstances whether you are the driver or a passenger of the vehicle.
