Legal Question in Traffic Law in Nebraska

driving my friends car

I was driving my friends car and accidently rear ended someone. I have paid him $450 to help fix the car. Now he wants alot more and is trying to take me to court. Doese he have a case? This happened in Nebraska and he gave me the keys because he was too drunk to drive. I was ticketed for following too closely and passed all sobriety and breath tests.

Re: driving my friends car

Didn't either one of you have auto insurance? You should file a claim against your insurance company if you are insured on another vehicle. If he had insurance he can file against his insurance company instead. If no insurance, then if he can prove the damages to his car exceed $450 he has an excellent case. You will lose if it goes to court. Verify damages and negotiate the lowest price he will accept without going to court.
