Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Netherlands

Can I leave debt in uk and move to The Netherlands debt free?

I plan to sell my house in UK and move to Holland. My credit rating in UK is bad due to debts. I plan to use the money raised by the sale of the house to live on a cash existance until I get a job in Holland.

If my creditors cant find me will my debt be written off after a period of time (6 years)?.

Will my creditors find me in Holland if I do not leave any forwarding address in the UK?.

Hi. your debts will still be owed and due after six years but they will not be enforceable through the courts. Thus your creditors will not be able to take court action to recover the amounts. In all probability this will lead to them being written off and in practice it is probable that the creditors will take a commercial view and write them off well before that time. even if the creditors do track you down, there is little they could do with regard to a UK debt in Holland.
