Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Netherlands

Breaking a lease in holland

The house we were renting in the Netherlands had two months left on the lease before we moved back to Texas (USA). We cleaned the house, & left it in the same shape as when we moved into it. The Owner is now threating us that he/she will take Action if we don't pay the last 2 months. Now they are also saying that the walls were bad. The walls weren't in perfect condition when we moved in, so as two years went by of course the walls would need painting. That is not our responsibility to paint the walls. What are my rights now that I am back in America? What should I be concerened about?

Re: Breaking a lease in holland

This situation would be covered by Dutch law, not Texas. Its probably unlikely that they would file suit in Texas over this.
