Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

Do I need a lawyer to file for termination of parental rights in NV? My ex and I were never married and he has been in and out of prison since before our daughter was born. He is back in and I am married now and we would like to terminate his rights and later my husband would like to pursue adoption. Where and how do we start this process? What kinds of things are taken into account or can help (as well as hinder) the process?

Your question requires more data than can be relayed by email, but you can find the background law and an explanation of the process at:

To answer your first question, no -- you have the right to attempt any or all of this yourself, and there are even forms through the self-help center, but as with surgery, while you can try it on your own, there is a good reason most people prefer expert assistance. If you would like to go over your specific facts and circumstances, see http://willicklawgroup.com/consultation-policies/.
