Legal Question in Construction Law in Nevada

Who enforces building code violations.

If osha and local agencies won't enforce building code violations in the school district, putting children and workers in harms way, who does??? What legal course exists to remedy this???. City building officials and Osha choose to look the other way. Many life safety issues exist.

Re: Who enforces building code violations.

You say local officials and OSHA chose to look the other way? What, exactly, has been done to bring the problems to their attention? In all likelihood, there is a formal procedure for reporting health and safety violations in the community to the proper authorities. If all one does is place a phone call to a nameless bureaucrat or clerk/receptionist at an office, it should be no surprise if nothing gets done. Remember, government employees deal with PAPER, and find it easy to ignore anything that is not placed beneath their noses, with an OFFICIAL work order compelling them to act.

I would suggest going directly to the Building Inspector for the county, and simultaneously filing a formal report of your findings with the county school district. You do not make it clear if this is an existing building or new, ongoing construction, but in either case, you should also consider reporting your information about unsafe conditions to the local contractors' board.

You will get action if you rattle the right cages, and in a way that the occupants understand.

Good luck in your efforts.
