Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Nevada

Report a foreign debtor to the government

Hello, I am working for an American company with a commercial office in Mexico. I would like to know if it is possible to report a Mexican citizen, whom is not paying us his bills, to the American Embassy and advise them that they owe some money to us and ask them to remind them the next time they renew the visa or visit the States that they have an outstanding balance with us. If this is possible, could you provide us the article that obligates the embassies to receive our request?

Re: Report a foreign debtor to the government

Our firm specializes in credit and collections and assists mostly foreign companies on their collections against Mexican companies, and we hear this question over and over again.

I really don't know for sure if the US Embassy will actually do something based on a claim like this and retaliate against those Mexican nationals. I think that unless you have a judgment in your favor it is your word against his.

I think the best thing you could do is either start litigation in the US and then enforce your judgment in Mexico, or go directly to a Mexican court to get your money. The Mexican legal system has evolved over the last years and is very reliable (in most jurisdictions), provided you have a strong case and good representation.

We would need to see the particulars of your case to see if you have a strong action or not. Feel free to contact us to review your case.
