Legal Question in Criminal Law in Nevada

car egging

a few months ago, my car was egged by a 17 year old while I was driving.

After the 17 year old threw the egg at my car, he drove off, and I chased him.

When he was driving away from me, he made a turn too fast and wrecked his car.

His egg caused $1200 in damage.

Now I want to send him a demand letter for the damages, but I was wondering if he could somehow sue me because I was chasing him to get his plate number when he wrecked his car.

Also, besides the damages to the car due to the egg, what other monetary damages could I demand from him (eg. rental car for a few days, time off from work to drop the car off and pick it up, postage to send the demand letter etc.)

And because the subject is a minor, do I address the demand letter to the him or his parents?

Re: car egging

You could sue him for compensation to make you whole, i.e., car damage and car rental. You can sue his parents but they may not be held liable. He could countersue you for chasing him, but I doubt if he would when. However, if he did sue you your car insurance would probably go up.
