Legal Question in Criminal Law in Nevada

Self Defense - Domestic Violence

We have a relative who was just charged with murder and is being held at the Jail. She says she has not been arraigned, but it has been 5 days. Shouldn't she be able to have a lawyer by now? The family is confused and no one can give us any answers. She shot and killed her abusing boyfriend. She is being Held in Henderson NV, could this be why there seems to be a delay? I guess we are all egger to get her lawyer involved so we can be clear on what to expect. There are two children involved.

She should have a lawyer appointed to her by now. It will be the Clark County Public Defender if she cannot afford one.

Re: Self Defense - Domestic Violence

If your relative has been arraigned and cannot afford an attorney the Henderson Court will appoint a Public Defender to represent her.

If you would like to retain a private attorney to represent her you would need to arrange a fee agreement with said attorney and they would be able to consult with your relative ASAP.

My office does handle criminal matters; if you'd like to contact my office for a free consultation please do so at your convenience.
