Re: What Happens Next?

If you're friend has been charged with a sexual assault crime it is probably being booked as a felony. If that is the case, your friend will have a potentially high bond to be released.

Typically, probable cause hearings are merely to determine if enough evidence existed to arrest the defendant and to enter an initial plea. Then the judge has the ability to set bond if applicable.

I would say that your friend is in extreme need of legal counsel. If he meets government poverty standards he may qualify for the Public Defender. If not, he would need to retain a private attorney.

My office handles all criminal matters. If you'd like to arrange to have me speak to your friend contact my office to schedule an appointment.
