Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

Disability benefits and divorce

Two friends are divorcing and are both on disability. They have been married for 23 years and have a disabled child who has remained in the custody of the father since he is phsically able to handle her; she can perform no activity alone.

Since both parties are on disability benefits,is it possible for the wife to seek alimony from the husband due to the length of time together (23 years), the fact that he earns more than half her income, and the disabled child that was snatched away from her?

I ask this question because the husband has said that he had researched the topic and that she would never receive alimony. We began to research this info on the Internet and have seen many situations in which the wife had successfully petioned and won an alimont award from the court.

Thank you and I know that LawGuru will once again provide me with the information that I need without delay!
