Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

Legal Guardian

I just got married to my other half. I have a four-year-old daughter from a previous marriage. So that makes him her step-father. I was awarded full custody of my child from the judge along with a divorce from her nature father. He has not been able to be located for 2 1/2 years. Can I make my husband a legal guardian or can he adopt her? She has accepted him has her father, calls him daddy, even if he has agreed to the factor too?

Re: Legal Guardian

Thank you for your inquiry.

The most reasonable procedure would be to have your new husband formally adopt your daughter. Your ex-husband could challenge said adoption but if he is abandoned for almost three (3) years it would be a more streamlined procedure for you.

My office handles adoption matters in Clark County. Contact my office if you'd like to schedule a free consultation.
