Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

What are requirements & cost of getting a divorce in Nevada?

My husband & I have lived in Nevada for 8 1/2 months and are separated now. We have no children and no property together. We have been married a little over 2 years...married in Oklahoma. It will be a non-contested divorce. How long does a divorce in Nevada take, do we need a lawyer, approximate what is the cost, what is the proceedure?

Requirements & cost of getting a divorce in Nevada?

The requirement for divorce in Nevada is a minimum of 6 weeks residency in the State.

The Court filing fee is $147.

The amount of time the divorce will take to complete depends on the willingness of both parties to sign the necessary papers and the efficiency of the Judge who is assigned to the case. Some Judges are very good and enter the final decree in a few days; others are slower and can take a month or more to finish processing the paperwork. You do not get to chose the Judge; it is a random assignment by the Court.

I will not quote fees over the "net" because it can be too misleading to others who read the posts. If you are in Clark County, you are welcome to call me for an estimate. However, a "flat fee" is based on an estimate of the amount of time needed to be spent on the case. Talk is not cheap - the more you need to talk, the more it costs.
