Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Nevada

Do I have to return a gift?

I dated a gentlema for approx 8 months. He have me a $500

diamond ring for Xmas and approx. $350 worth of leather clothing as a gift. I gave him gift(s) of approx. equal value. There is no agreement for repayment, these items are clearly and undisputedly gifts. We have since broken up and he is demanding the items back.

Question: Is there any legal premise that states he can demand and receive his gifts back?

I thought a gift was a gift and would never even consider asking for one back.

Thanks for the answer.

Re: Do I have to return a gift?

No. If something is given another person and actually delivered and accepted that something cannot be taken back unilaterally by the donor. However, it is a tradition for an engagement ring to be returned to the gentleman if the lady breaks off the engagement. However, legally the lady can keep the engagement ring.
