My father is in the hospital and not able to make decisions for himself, i want to transfer him to a facility in California for recovery but the insurance company said that i could not do it because i am not his guardian, how do I get power of attorney to do this?

Re: Sick Person

You will need to file a Petition to be Appointed the Legal Guardian of his Person in order to be able to make medical decisions for him. If he has an 'estate'--money that needs to be managed and bills that need to be paid, you should also ask the court to appoint you as guardian of his estate. If your father is not married, as his child, you have priority in appointment.

Re: Sick Person

You have to petition the Court to become his legal guardian. A power of attorney won't be enough.
