Refinance of home after divorce

My spouse and I were divorced almost a year ago. I was awarded the house. It was quit claimed to me and recorded as such. Can my ex-spouse force me to refinance?

Your issue is more a family law issue than one of real estate law. If the quit claim deed was recorded, your ex-husband probably does not have any interest in the real property. However, the dissolution decree may have addressed the issues of who is responsible for certain debts. You should review the final decree to see how it addressed debts. A family law practictioner (or your divorce lawyer if you had one) should be able to answer your question.
