Legal Question in Social Security Law in Nevada

Claim of Creditors on Social Security payments

All my personal property was purchased using Social Security funds. Since these funds are exempt by federal law from the claim of creditors, is my personal property also exempt from such claims?

Re: Claim of Creditors on Social Security payments

Your exemptions for personal property are covered in Nevada by NRS 21.090. Just because you use social security funds to purchase something does not necessarily make the purchase items exempt at all. For example, if you bought a $25,000 car for cash with social security funds, only $15,000 of that car would be exempt under NRS 21.090 and the remainder subject to levy despite the source of the funds for the car's purchase.
