entitlement

if a husband is married to his wife for 8 years or more but only names his kids as beneficiaries of his estate, does his wife have any legal claims against the estate?

Unless the wife has signed a prenuptial agreement, she is always entitled to half the community property. Nevada is not a title state where one party can unilaterally take away his or her spouse's community property rights.
